Former Australian pacer Shaun Tait has stepped down from his role as the fast-bowling coach of the Bangladesh men’s senior cricket team with immediate effect.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appointed Tait as a replacement for Andre Adams in May last year. At the time, it was announced that his contract would run until November 2027.

After cutting short his coaching stint, Tait explained his decision, citing personal reasons, and reflected on his time with the Bangladesh team.

“My 12 months with the BCB and the Bangladesh national team were fulfilling,” Tait told ESPNcricinfo. “I want to thank the BCB. I really enjoyed working with the players. I have a great relationship with the fast-bowling group. They were good to work with, and I built some really strong relationships in Bangladesh and within the cricketing community in general.”

While Tait’s tenure as fast-bowling coach has come to an end, he has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the country in some capacity in the future.

“I don’t think this will be the closing chapter of my time in the country. There’s obviously the BPL and other opportunities. You never know what the future holds. But for the time being, my young family need a bit more of my time. The demands of a full-time role involving year-round red-ball and white-ball cricket meant that 12 months was enough, and it’s now time to step back and give my family a little more attention,” Tait added.

According to reports, Bangladesh could turn to one of their former fast bowlers as Tait’s replacement in the role of fast-bowling coach.
